About Pondicherry

Pondicherry, the former French colony is the perfect blend of Indian sensuality and architecture of France. The official name of the city is Puducherry. Pondicherry is a coastal city of Tamil Nadu, located on the bank of Bay of Bengal. But the port of Pondicherry do not have a harbour. Ships lay by off the shore. India has 7 union territory and Pondicherry is one of the seven. According to a tale, Pondicherry was known as Bedpuri and this place is also believed to be the home of the Saint Agastya.

Prior to 1954, Pondicherry was a French settlement. Now the old French style houses, churches and even the new built French style shops, bright cafes and restaurants give Pondicherry a foreign look. Best Time To Visit

Pondicherry is better to see from October to March as temperatures are usually stay between 15 and 30 degrees Celsius. April-June is summer and quite warm and temperatures reach 40 degrees Celsius.
